The MHS Marching & Symphonic Bands have announced they will be traveling to Orlando, Florida during spring break 2013 to perform at Walt Disney World.Total projected cost per student is $670.
Fundraising for the trip began last month with the Juniors and Sophomores making and selling homemade pizzas. Freshman and 8th graders will have the same opportunity in February. Participating band members will receive 50% profit from each pizza sold!

Day 1 – July 3
6:00am Depart Minerva High School
1:00pm Arrival in Washington, D.C
Meet your Parade Tour Manager, who will escort you through the duration
of your activities
2:40pm Capitol Tour
Sightseeing may include a panoramic tour of the Capitol Hill area, the
Supreme Court Building, and the Library of Congress
5:30pm Check into Courtyard Marriott Crystal City
7:00pm Dinner at Phillip’s Restaurant
Evening walking tour of the Lincoln, Korean, and Vietnam Memorials
Return to the hotel for overnight
Day 2 – July 4
7:30am Breakfast at the hotel
Transfer to parade staging area on the National Mall
12:00pm Participate in the National Independence Day Parade on historic
Constitution Avenue
Following the parade, bands are escorted to waiting motorcoaches where
box lunch is provided
Walking tour of the Jefferson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
5:00pm Dinner at King Street Blues
8:00pm Attend “A Capitol Fourth” celebration on the Capitol Lawn, featuring
the National Symphony concert and invited guest artists (seating is not
reserved but on a first-come first-serve basis)
9:10pm Grand finale fireworks display
10:30pm Return to the hotel for overnight
Day 3 – July 5
7:30am Breakfast at the hotel
Morning check-out and board motorcoach
Tour of Arlington National Cemetery and participate in the special U.S.
Military Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown (subject
to confirmation)
Visit the Iwo Jima Memorial
Visit the National Archives and The Peterson House, (where Lincoln died)
Lunch, on own
1:00pm Afternoon departure for home
8:00pm Arrival back at Minerva High School
Minerva HS Symphonic Band will be performing at Large Group District Adjudicated Event at Lake High School this Friday at 5:30pm. Admission is free and open to the public. Please come and support the band. They will be performing the following selections:
Overture for Winds by Charles Carter
Irish Tune from County Derry by Percy Grainger
Dreams and Proclamations by Roland Barrett
Payments for the three day, two night trip will be made in installments for a total amount of $600. The following amounts are due at the band office in a sealed, labeled envelope by the following dates. Participating in fundraisers will reduce or eliminate future installments.

Day 2 – July 4, 2010
Early morning breakfast at the hotel
Transfer to parade staging area on the National Mall
Participate in the National Independence Day Parade on historic Constitution
Avenue
Following the parade, bands are escorted to waiting motorcoaches where box
lunch is provided. Afternoon, depending on schedule, sightseeing continues and
may include one of the Smithsonian Institute Museums
Dinner at a local restaurant, at Union Station, or at the Old Post Office Pavilion
Attend “A Capitol Fourth” celebration on the Capitol Lawn, featuring the
National Symphony concert and invited guest artists (seating is not reserved
but on a first-come first-serve basis), followed by a grand finale fireworks
display
Day 3 – July 5, 2010
Breakfast at the hotel
Morning check-out and board motorcoach
Pending availability, site-seeing to include Ford’s Theater and the Peterson
House, (where Lincoln died)
Tour of Arlington National Cemetery and participate in the special U.S.
Military Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown (subject to
confirmation). Afternoon departure for home
Minerva Invited To Perform In National Independence Day Parade

Minerva Jazz Ensemble To Record In Cleveland
Published January 22, 2009 Jazz Band , Trips Leave a CommentOn Saturday, May 23, 2009 the Minerva High School Jazz Ensemble will be recording an original arrangement at The Ante Up Audio Recording Studio in Cleveland, Ohio. The composition “Eleanor Rigby” is a latin jazz arrangement of the familiar Beatles’ tune. The Minerva Jazz Band will be the first group to ever professionally record this great, new version of the Beatles’ classic.
