High school jazz band students should meet at The Minerva Classic 57 at 7:15am Friday morning for breakfast. Students should come with their folder, instrument and dressed in their jazz band uniform minus ties. The performance will take place at about 8:10am. Following the performance students will be given time to change and should then return to class at MHS. School transportation will be available for students who do not drive to school.

Using a piece of aged pine he found in his garage, Minerva senior band member Conor Freeland used a band saw to build his own custom electric bass guitar. He then painted the body with green and blue wood stain. The neck and other electrical parts he bought online and installed himself. The bass is about an inch longer than a standard electric bass.
You can hear Conor, his custom bass, and the rest of the Minerva High School Jazz Band in action at Friday home varsity basketball games beginning Friday, December 4th.
Minerva Jazz Ensemble To Record In Cleveland
Published January 22, 2009 Jazz Band , Trips Leave a CommentOn Saturday, May 23, 2009 the Minerva High School Jazz Ensemble will be recording an original arrangement at The Ante Up Audio Recording Studio in Cleveland, Ohio. The composition “Eleanor Rigby” is a latin jazz arrangement of the familiar Beatles’ tune. The Minerva Jazz Band will be the first group to ever professionally record this great, new version of the Beatles’ classic.
On Saturday, February 21st, Minerva High School is hosting a local jazz festival featuring performances by Northwest, Tuslaw and Minerva High Schools. There will also be a spotlight performance by Front Street from Tiffin University. Bands will perform for 20 minutes each and receive taped and written comments by judges Bob Feldbush and Donald Turuso. Following each performance, bands will receive a private clinic by the judges.
Doors open @ 1:00pm.
Tickets: $4 Adults/$2 Students
